Born in Tokyo.
Graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan NISHI Senior High School
Graduated from TSUDA College, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Department of English Language and Literature, B. A.
After graduation, worked for NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) from 1996 to 2008 as a TV producer.
From 2008, based in the UK, working as a TV person and a Teddy Bear Artist.

With my background and expertise, planned and produced the 12-part series on how to make your own bear, "Dear Teddy Bear" (1999) and the two hour documentary "Teddy Bears - Forever Friends" (2002) to mark the centenary anniversary of the teddy bear for NHK, Japan Broadcasting Corporation. The latter focused on the miraculous power of teddy bears, its ability to support and heal the soul, as well as how it can encourage people to become warm and gentle . For this programme, I visted NY just after the 9-11 attacks, and reported on the story of the teddy bears that were sent in their hundreds of thousands to the victims of the attacks, and on how they offered comfort and support to those traumatized and in grief.

Encounter with the Teddy Bear

I began making teddy bears under the label of "Mammie Bear" aged seventeen in 1990, having being drawn to the style of the antique teddy bear which was given to me as a Christmas present.

The beginnings of the teddy bear go back a hundred years or so to 1902, and the characteristics of my work hail to those classical days. I tend to keep accessories and clothing to an absolute minimum, as I prefer people to be able to appreciate their original appearance. This philosophy behind the Mammie Bear brand has remained unchanged since its beginnings, and has accordingly been rated globally with numerous top prizes, having received a total of twenty six prestigious awards to date, including various Grand Prix. My work has been featured by media around the world, including the UK, US, France, South Korea and Japan.

As an artist, I have participated in many teddy bear festivals and charity events held in Japan and also in various places around the world. More recently, I have begun to give lectures on the history and appeal of the teddy bear, so that I may further contribute to the culture of the teddy bear.
